Tennis Overview

Walnut Creek has an active tennis program that gives tennis players the opportunity to play in events ranging from competitive tournaments to fun mixers. Programs are available for Adult and Junior players in all membership classifications.

Members enjoy tennis lessons, practice sessions and match play on four beautiful asphalt courts that were re-surfaced in 2009.

Walnut Creek is fortunate to have a seasoned Tennis Director and a staff of professionals to run the tennis program and provide lessons.

The Junior Tennis program is available for the following groups and ages throughout the spring and summer:  Tiny Tots (4-5), Junior Stars (5-7), Challengers (7-10, pre-team), Future Stars (9-13 intermediate), Super Excellence (tournament experience), Tournament Elite (highest level junior players) and Teen Stars (teenage beginners).

Walnut Creek also has a Junior Tennis Team that competes in different divisions in the Inter-Club league. This program is intended to help junior players improve on their tennis skills while competing in a fun setting. It is one of the most active programs in the state of Michigan and the team has frequently won the Inter-Club Championship.

Tennis is also introduced in the Junior Advantage program. Children between the ages of 4 and 9 have the opportunity learn about golf, swimming and tennis in this program that consists of four 3-hour sessions. Junior Advantage is available for all membership classifications.

Adult Tennis programs include Clinics, Organized Practice, Activities and Events. Some fun activities are the War of the Roses (husbands vs. wives), Mixers (games, snacks and cocktails), Davis Cup (adults and kids) and a Tennis Invitational to benefit a charity.  Aside from organized programs, the courts are frequently filled with members enjoying a casual game with friends or family.
